Radar Maintenance/Operations Technician (Beale AFB)

InTrack Radar Technologies is looking for a full-time Radar Maintenance and Operations Technician. The Radar Maintenance Technician maintains, repairs, and calibrates all mission radar equipment. Analyzes systems data, provides recommendations to resolve radar system degradation and failures. Operates the Maintenance Monitor Console (MMCO) and immediately informs Missile Warning Operations Crew Commander/Crew Chief of any failures, degradation, or system status change. Initiates recall actions for C-E equipment, as directed, and obtain approval of any equipment removal. Will be knowledgeable with Computer Operations tasks and recovery procedures. This position is a non-exempt, hourly position. This position is located at Beale AFB, California. The position requires variable shift work.

The Radar Maintenance technician will maintain, repair and operate the AN/FPS132 Phased Array Radar system and ancillary equipment at Beale AFB. Performs electronic maintenance; servicing, alignment, modification, testing, inspection, repair, and overhaul of radar and associated equipment to include, but not limited to: Frequency Time Standards, Signal Processor Computers, Receiver-Exciters, Receive Beam Formers, Beam Steering Units and Solid State Module Test Set. Utilizes various types of test equipment such as: Radio Frequency signal generators, oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies and Network, Spectrum, Logic Analyzers. Utilizes an assortment of engineering drawings, technical orders, manuals, instructions, and similar information as an integral part of the tasks assigned. Will become a member of the Consolidated Maintenance Operations Center (CMOC) workforce. As a liaison between the Missile Warning Operations Center (MWOC), the CMOC, Communications, Power Production, and site Civil Engineering work centers, informs the MWOC of all site maintenance activities. Initiates recall actions for C E equipment, as directed, and obtains approval of any equipment removal. Prepares Status Reports. Performs checks for electromagnetic interference, SCIS operations, relief duties as a computer operator, and maintenance scheduling. Maintains telephone liaison with other external agencies as required.

o   Reports system anomalies immediately to lead and Communication Electronics Manager (CEM); effects restorable actions and reports equipment status.
o   Meet all Missile Warning Operations Center requirements, and responds to all site reporting requirements.
o   Ensures all radar equipment is optimally configured.
o   Ensures all radar equipment is optimally configured, reports electromagnetic interference and immediately responds, directs and supports all emergency action requirements.
o   Report Electronic Magnetic Interference and immediately respond and supports all emergency action requirements.
o   Provides maintenance repair support for equipment associated with radar maintenance program.
 
o   Inspects, aligns, and calibrates digital and analog equipment to achieve maximum operating efficiency.
o   Maintain records, logs, and files.
o   Perform computer operator tasks as required.
o   Performs other duties as required.

Supervision Received:
  • Works under the general supervision of the work center lead and CEM.
Physical Tasks
  • Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50-pounds and up to 100-pounds with assistance
  • Be able to negotiate multiple sets of stairs without assistance, climb ladders up to fifteen feet, work with high-voltages, and can distinguish colors.
Working Conditions
  • Computer center environment. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends.
 
Security Clearance
  • Position requires a SECRET clearance to be maintain throughout employment.

Education: High School diploma and the completion of civilian or military radar electronics.
Experience: Three years’ experience in phased array radar maintenance is recommended.
 Licenses or Certifications: None
